Four kids, four birthday quilts! This quilt was made for our daughter Riley for her 16th birthday. It is from a pattern called “Creamsicle” from Simply Color - Orange by Vanessa Christenson of V & Co. (I adapted it to make a larger quilt than the original pattern). To know Riley is to know that she loves the color orange. It is her signature color. When she was ten yours old, she saw a tangerine-colored bike helmet and pleaded to go halfsies with us, paying her share with birthday and chore money. The nickname “Tangerine” was born! The orange peel block can be made by machine or by hand… I chose to hand appliqué each block. While this method can be quite tedious and time consuming, I love love the precision. I also enjoy having a take-along-project at the ready, a “PSA” (Passenger Seat Activity)!
