Four kids, four birthday quilts! This quilt was made for our daughter Lauren for her 16th birthday. It comes from a pattern and quilt kit called “Gravity” by Jaybird Quilts. When Lauren was little, she used to say her favorite color my “rainbow.” With her sweet, kind, gentle soul, perhaps Lauren didn’t want to single out any one color as her favorite, so as not to hurt the feelings of the other colors (wink, wink). When I saw photos of this quilt floating around social media, I knew I wanted to make it for Lauren. Thank goodness this project came as a quilt kit… it contains 114 different Kona Cotton solids…imagine buying all those colors individually! On the quilt back, I designed a six-pointed star using scraps from all of the colors.

As a footnote, the little girl who chose “rainbow” as her favorite color went on to major in Game Art Design at College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. Our family is so proud of her, and we are always eager to see her latest creations!
