The title comes from my two muses: Andy Warhol, whose Pop Art style I interpreted into this design, and Georgia, our sweet Chocolate Lab, who faithfully kept me company in my quilt studio for over thirteen years (RIP, Georgia). To make Andy & George, I used peppered cottons from Studio E Fabrics, a type of fabric made of yarn-dyed woven shot cottons, in which the weft and warp are two different colors. This gives a nice textural look and feel to the fabric, with some surprising color combinations within the individual fabrics. Each block contains around 90 pieces of fabric, totaling over 2,250 in the entire quilt. Maybe that’s why a finished quilt is such a feat! To complicate matters, I designed paper-pieced lettering to add to the backing fabric, a Tula Pink cotton called Seed Stitch in the “noon” color way. WOOF!
